Abstract

Regeneration of potential energy is an effective solution to save energy in hydraulic excavators. This paper proposed a new hydraulic circuit for the swing system of a hydraulic excavator. Hydraulic accumulator was installed in system to store the regenerated energy. Then, the fuzzy rule was used to choose energy regeneration time. It was successful to combine the theoretical principles with experiment results and to balance the system performance and energy regeneration efficiency. The fuzzy-PID controller was developed to control the hydraulic motor. A test bench was constructed and tested. The results showed that the highest energy regeneration efficiency was 70% and system performance was satisfied. In addition, three important conclusion of system performance and four important conclusions of energy regeneration efficiency were got based on the experiment results for guiding the further research
