Abstract
In this paper, energy recovery by incineration of municipal solid waste from the city of Tehran has been studied. A laboratory was established to obtain the physical and chemical compositions of the waste. Data on the amount of collected solid waste was also analyzed. Based on this information and, a survey of current technologies consideration of air pollution effects and other factors, it was concluded that incineration of Tehran municipal solid waste may not be acceptable at the present time.
