Abstract
Integrating the energy dissipation unit inside the converter is a cost-effective solution for fault ride-through of surplus power in offshore wind power systems. To address the problem of low accuracy of the existing self-consuming converter control strategy, an energy dissipation unit control strategy based on DC voltage hysteresis control and step throwing is proposed to achieve accurate control of the dissipated power during fault ride-through, and to control the DC bus voltage and sub-module capacitance voltage to fluctuate within the allowable range. Simulation results show that the proposed self-consuming converter control strategy can effectively achieve fault ride-through under different fault strength conditions, and the capacitor voltage ripple is reduced by more than 20% when using the optimized control strategy than the basic control strategy.
