Abstract
Features of energy control centers in Japan are introduced from the following angles: (1) Configuration and function of computers in Load Dispatching Offices, taking two examples of different nature to compare design philosophy, function sharing and backup schemes, etc., (2) Relationship between Load Dispatching and Switching Operations, introducing two types of projects going on: (i) Centralized type in Chubu System where Load Dispatching and Switching Operations are issued in a unified hierarchy and (ii) Decentralized type in Kansai System where they are issued by two separate, but closely coupled, hierarchies, (3) Present status and future perspective of system operations from the security viewpoints.
