Abstract

The 1986 evaluation of fundamental constants [E.R. Cohen and B.N. Taylor, CODATA Bull. no. 63 (1986), ref. [1]] requires revision of the energy scale of γ-rays. For high-energy ones calibrated with neutron-capture gamma rays, the new determination by diffraction measurements of the energy of the H(n, γ)D-capture γ-rays [G.L. Greene et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 56 (1986) 819, ref. [2]] necessitates a further correction. New values are given for a number of γ-rays often used for calibration. In an appendix, corresponding changes for α-rays are discussed.
