Abstract

Internet technology and multimedia applications practices increasing day by day, a stimulation of Quality of Service (QoS) in Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) is now a great interest area for companies to serve better for their users. This research work focuses on design and development of new Energy Aware Multicast Cluster (EAMC) based routing to enhance the QoS of the MANETs. This proposed routing protocol is an enhancement of Ad hoc On-demand Distance vector (AODV) and Multicast AODV (MAODV) with a cluster based mechanism that provides energy aware routing. Clustering is the method of separating the nodes into various groups and multicasting states to the delivery of data packets from the source node to a group of mobile nodes. The metrics such as average delay, energy consumption, packet delivery ratio (PDR), loss and throughput are considered in this study to measure the behavior of the proposed EAMC-AODV protocol which aims to enhance the service quality of the MANET. The performance of the network is examined by using the results obtained through NS2 simulator and it shows that the proposed EAMC-AODV performs better than the AODV and MAODV protocols.
