Abstract

In this paper well-posed boundary conditions for the Navier-Stokes equation are derived using the energy method. A new set of boundary conditions are compared with well-posed boundary conditions for the Euler equations when used to compute the subsonic flow over a flat plate. It is shown that the new set of boundary conditions are superior with regard to rate of convergence except for the highest Reynolds number tested. By combining the new boundary conditions with the Euler conditions the best overall performance was achieved.
