Overhead transmission lines are often energised from mixed sources containing both transmission lines and generators and/or transformers. Although, in many cases, these sources are extensive and complex, simple examples also exist. The effect of their parameters on the overvoltages caused by the energisation of a transmission line is examined using a transient network analyser
