Abstract
Background: The talonavicular joint is the most common site of idiopathic osteoarthritis of the hindfoot joints. Currently, both two- and three-joint and isolated arthrodesis of the talonavicular joint are actively used for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the talonavicular joint. However, blocking the foot of functionally significant joints causes overload of the corresponding joints and, as the theory shows, degenerative changes in them. Clinical case description: A case of surgical treatment of a patient with avascular necrosis of the head of the talus, deforming arthrosis and fibrous ankylosis of the talonavicular joint by endoprosthesis replacement of the head of the talus with protection by a ceramic implant is presented. The case described in the publication is the first description of a new method of treating the rough nature of the talonavicular joint with endoprosthesis of the head of the talus with a ceramic implant. Conclusion: The analysis of the mid-term results of surgical treatment in a patient with stageIII deforming arthrosis and fibrous ankylosis of the talonavicular joint of the foot allows us to conclude that endoprosthesis of the head of the talus is promising when caring for patients with this pathology. The first data obtained indicate that our proposed endoprosthesis and the method of its implantation may be the method of choice for preserving the mobility of the talonavicular joint.
