Abstract

For root canal treatment success, complete root canal cleaning is essential. However, the detection of morphological changes in the teeth and the cleaning of all canal influence the success of root canal treatment. The finding of canals within the root canal system enhances the success of treatment. The aim of this case report is to present a rare five-channel successful root canal treatment of maxillary first molar teeth.A 34-year-old male patient was referred to the endodontic clinic with a chief complaint of dull pain. Clinical examination revealed deep dentine carious lesion, the teeth was tender to percussion. After radiological examination, no radiolucency and pathology was detected around the related teeth. While root canal treatment, in addition to the expected canals second canal was found at distobuccal root. After the biomechanic preparation of the canals, the root canals were obturated using gutta-percha and sealer. The teeth was restored with composite resin. Following 6 months, he had no tenderness to percussion or palpation and no pathological evidence was determined in radiographic images
