Abstract

Xhe aims of this paper are: (1) to establish another terminology of prescriptive alliance; (2) to indicate a further example of formal variance between terminology and alliance; and (3) to present a case of special interest in the determination of symmetry and asym metry in the analysis of prescriptive alliance. The sources of evidence which are drawn upon span exactly a century, from a vocabulary published in 1855 down to field enquiries made by myself in 1955.
