Abstract
The article discusses the connection between an end-of-days religious prophecy based on the year 2012 and the impact of humans on the environment. The focus of the article are comments made by former governor of Alaska and 2009 U.S. vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin concerning the arrogance of man to suggest he overpowers nature. Topics include the author's argument that man has overpowered nature in every way and offers examples, such as the rate of extinction, to illustrate his point.
