Abstract

The protein bovine serum albumin (BSA) was chemically bound to the inner surface of fused silica capillaries by a gentle coupling procedure in order to form a stable chiral stationary phase. Enantiomer separation of a number of DNP-amino acids and 3-hydroxy-1,4-benzodiazepines was possible in affinity open tubular electrokinetic chromatography (affinity OTEC) and open tubular liquid chromatography (OTLC) in one instrumental setup. This approach combines the advantages of high efficiency and small consumption of solvent and chiral selector with the possibility of UV detection without limitations of protein absorption. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
