Abstract

Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a serious public health problem that affects millions of people worldwide. IPV is associated with significant short-term and long-term health consequences for individuals and families and has high social and economic costs. Advanced practice registered nurses can use the empowerment process model as a framework for caring for IPV survivors. Incorporating routine IPV screening into daily clinical practice should be a priority. Advanced practice registered nurses can lead an approach to facilitate practice change, enhance multidisciplinary collaboration, and provide support for the implementation of IPV screening and care for survivors.
