Abstract

The tourism development of the Kuta region, Central Lombok district into a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has an impact on coastal communities in accepting changes. The purpose of the study was to determine the efforts to empower coastal women based on ecological awareness. The research subjects were coastal women in the Kuta Mandalika Village area, and the object includes identification of needs assessment, efforts to empower ecological awareness. Data collection is done through interviews and observations. Data analysis, following the steps of qualitative research. The results showed that women in the Kuta area were vulnerable to social and natural environments. The helplessness of women makes them have to work hard to catch up with the economy and prosperity in other fields. Adult children and women must be able to take economic activity so that they become part of the trade sector. Lack of ecological awareness has an impact on women and ensures environmental conditions both physically and non-physically. Coastal women need protection from domestic violence and the environment, comfort, and security in trade, increased education, skills, and independence. Efforts to increase ecological awareness through women's organizations in the Kuta region. This study benefits the village to maximize the ecological awareness of women and provide benefits for further in-depth research.
