Abstract

The literature study indicates that the number of empirical studies on the relationship between work values and job performance of employees are very low, and the results are not complimentary. Although many scholars provide a considerable amount of research regarding the relationship between the work values of an employee and his job performance, few studies take the influence an enterprise environment has on the work values of employees into consideration. Based on social interaction theory, this research puts forward the work value's fulfilling level as a new variable to ascertain the relationship between it and job performance of employees, which takes into full account of the interaction between the enterprise environment and employees' work values. Moreover, the work value's fulfilling level is used to measure the degree of an employee's work value realized within the enterprise, This research surveyed 529 valid data from supervisor-subordinate dyads to examine the hypotheses proposed in this article, and the findings of the research finally indicate that the work value's fulfilling level of employees is significantly correlated with their job performance, including capacity & progress and status & independence dimensions of work value. However, comfort & security dimensions are uncorrelated with job performance.
