Abstract

Electric Discharge Machining (EDM) is one of the precision manufacturing processes used in advance machining industries. It finds extensive application in die making processes. Nowadays it is also used to modify the surface properties of the worked surface using Powder Metallurgy (PM) composite electrode. Here in this study copper- Titanium die boride electrode (Cu-TiB 2 ) is fabricated through powder metallurgy process and it is used as an electrode material to machine OHNS steel. The input factors selected for this current study are pulse current, pulse on time and discharge voltage. The Material Removal Rate (MRR) and Surface Roughness (SR) are the selected as response for machining OHNS steel. The designs of experiment are formulated using Response Surface metrology. The polynomial empirical equation for MRR and SR are developed after the experiments. The significance of the developed model is tested by ANOVA.
