Abstract

In Chapter 9, Mike Eldon, Director of the Institute for Responsible Leadership and until recently Chair of Council of KCA University in Kenya, focuses on discussing the role of empowering interaction and responsible leadership in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. As such, through a variety of psychological models including Transactional Analysis and Theory X and Theory Y, he examines the crucial part played by emotional intelligence in responsible leadership. Here responsible emotional leadership contrasts with simply possessing expert technical expertise. Moreover, it centrally contributes to increasing social cohesion, which is arguably the most challenging of leadership tasks for government.
