Abstract

The emission spectra of neon and argon gas jets in the range of 3–20 nm when excited by pulsed laser radiation have been studied. The Nd:YAG laser with λ = 1064 nm, τ = 5 ns, and Epul = 0.8 J has been used. A capillary with a diameter of d = 500 μm and supersonic conical nozzles with dcr = 145 μm, 2α = 12°, and L = 5 mm, and dcr = 450 μm, 2α = 11°, and L = 5 mm have been used to form the gas jet. Emission spectra for various gas targets have been obtained and decoded and the ions emitting in this spectral range have been determined. The line intensities in the spectra of the gas jets formed by different nozzles have been compared.
