Abstract

Emergency contraception (EC) refers to birth control measures that may be taken after sexual intercourse to prevent a pregnancy. According to the 2006-2010 National Survey of Family Growth conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, among sexually experienced women aged 15-44, roughly 1 in 9 (11% or 5.8 million) women had ever used EC, up from 4.2% in 2002. 1 FDA (1997-02-25).
