Abstract

The present paper is a report on the synthesis and characterization of tin(IV) complexes with semicarbazones of the type, Sn(OAc)4−2n (SCZ)n (where n = 1,2 and SCZ−2 represents the anion of semicarbazone) using electronic, IR, Mossbauer and X-ray studies. Tin atom is in (IV) oxidation state in a symmetrical octahedral field. The compound tin-bis(Sal semicarbazate) adopts an orthorhombic lattice with a = 6.72 A, b = 23.45 A and c = 21.62 A. The IR spectra have given evidence for the tridentate ligation of ligands.
