Abstract

Summary: al-Mutanabbi is a great poet who existed in the first half of fourth century ofHegira. He was born in 303/915 in Qufa and noticed with his extraordinary intelligenceand ability of poetry. He took course from important savants in Qufa. On the otherhand he walked around Damascus together his father and learned unmixed Arabic frombedouins in desert, and gained perfection in it. He had a narcissist character. AlthoughHis real name was Ahmad, he was famous with al-Mutanabbi (Assertor ofprophethood). This is an important evidence of his narcissist characteristic stucture. Heobtained the real fame after his making acquainted with The Hamdanid Ruler Sayf aldawla,and was well-known by his eulogies for that ruler. One of the eulogies intendedfor mentioned ruler is the poem that was subject for our article. The poem beingmentioned was composed on conquesting of Sayf al-dawla Mar'ash (A great city inTurkey).
