Abstract

In 1950s and 1960s Las Vegas (NV, USA), the neon entertainment Sin City attracted celebrity, glamour, and wealth…and a young girl, daughter of the first Rabbi in Beverly Hills. Elinor Ben-Menachem recalls seeing a host of film and music stars as she travelled back and forth from her homeland in Los Angeles (CA, USA) with her quasi-famous father. “It was amazing, we were not wealthy, but everybody took care of us. My school was an exciting place to be, with many students who became big names in the entertainment industries, but it was also where I made strong friendships, which I still have today. This environment was all so far from being a regular person, and a doctor.”
