Abstract
In this study, the speed control of a four-bar linkage mechanism driven by an electric motor is considered. Firstly, a complete mathematical model for the motor-mechanism system is developed and the motion equations of the system are obtained and then these equations are solved numerically. Secondly, the speed control of the system is carried out by using Sliding Mode Control (SMC) method and the results obtained from simulation are compared with those of PID control and fuzzy logic control. Numerical simulations show that, the sliding mode control method has much better performance in the speed fluctuation, the percent overshoot, the steady-state error, and the average speed than the other control methods.
