Abstract

Abstract In spite of the similarity in the differential equations and aether relations, it is not true that every problem (with q = 0) in electrostatics translates into one in magnetostatics, and vice versa; for the jump conditions are different. But the mathematical techniques for solving problems in electrostatics and magnetostatics are quite similar. That is why only one of them, usually electrostatics, is studied in detail.
