Abstract

This paper deals with calculation of the electric field in an electrostatic precipitator using the R-functions and the method of characteristics for the space charge field analysis. The fields are described by the Poisson equation and the equation of current continuity. The current from the wire is controlled by the charge density on the high-voltage electrode, as determined from Peek's empirical law, in order to obtain the current-voltage characteristics of the corona device.
