Abstract

Electroreflection spectra of solid gallium in aqueous acidic solutions have a term associated with the electromodulation of the minimum distance abetween water molecules and the ionic core of the metal, which especially heavily affects the spectra at higher frequencies fmof modulation of potential E. The quantity da/dE≈ – 0.1 × 10–8cm/V is determined. Spectra obtained at low fmhave bands corresponding to charge transfer in the surface complexes formed during water chemisorption.
