Abstract

Electrophoretic deposition has been known and exploited for decades; however, its use in production of ceramic matrix composites, in particular those reinforced with continuous fibres has been still very limited. This chapter addresses the challenges represented by this special group of materials. The following presents a general review of the research work in this field and, based on literature as well as our own results, draws a few conclusions on the use of electric-field assisted forming of ceramic matrix composites (CMCs).
