Abstract

A brief review of the properties of electrons trapped in solids is presented, accent being placed upon links with F-centres in alkali-halide crystals on the one hand, and with solvated electrons on the other. The centres under consideration are generally formed by high energy irradiation of the appropriate solids, and the fact that glasses are often good traps, whereas the corresponding crystalline materials are not, is stressed.
