Abstract

Using the universal parameter tight-binding method, we have investigated the electronic structures of C 60Br 6, C 60Br 8 and C 60Br 24 which have been synthesized recently. It is found that the electronic states of CBr ppσ bonds mix with those of CC ppπ bonds, and all these states form the closed shell structures of C 60Br 6, C 60Br 8 and C 60Br 24. It is also found that the density of states at the highest occupied state of C 60Br 24 which displays T h symmetry is high.
