Abstract
Abstract This chapter describes the process of electronic commutation in squarewave brushless DC motors and their controllers. It also describes the differential equations used by the PCrBDC computer program for the dynamic simulation of 3-phase squarewave brushless DC motors, with wye, delta, and unipolar half-bridge connections. The commutation process is important for detailed understanding of the switching of the power transistors.
