Abstract

We present momentum- and energy-balance equations for hot-electron transport and nonlinear optic absorption in semiconductors subjected to a DC electric field, a radiation field of terahertz frequency, and a uniform magnetic field, being in arbitrary directions and having arbitrary strengths. These equations, which include all orders of multiphoton processes, are applied to the examination of terahertz-related DC conductivity, magnetophonon resonance and optic absorption in GaAs-based semiconductor systems. A number of interesting effects are predicted, which could be detected through measurements.
