Abstract

EPR has been used to study of KTiOAsO4 (KTA) single crystals doped with Rh. To induce the paramagnetic centers crystals of KTA were irradiated with γ-rays at room temperature or at 77 K and data were then taken at 77 K. In irradiated at 300 K KTA crystal from angular dependence the principal values and directions of g and A tensors were determined for the Rh2+ ion: g1 = 2.5993, g2 = 2.5344, g3 = 1.9581 and A1 = 34.6, A2 = 29.8, A3 = 26.2 in units of 10−4 cm−1. From comparison of the experimental principal axes of the g tensor with Ti ─ O bond directions in the structural TiO6 octahedra is proposed that Rh2+ ion substitute for Ti4+ ion in Ti1 site of the KTA structure. In as-grown KTA crystal optical absorption spectra of the Rh3+ ion are reported.
