Abstract

We consider the motion of electrons in regions containing a uniform magnetic field and a uniform electrostatic field. Four distinct configurations are studied, and the solutions to the equations of motion are given as first-order solutions with third-order and chromatic aberrations. It is shown that these four elementary forms provide a simple and pleasing pattern, giving both positive and negative aberration coefficients.
