Abstract

Recent laser-induced impact ionization experiments with InSb are evaluated using the similarity principle for the same process in the presence of dc fields. It is shown that the deduced electron mobility is well-described by the Das-Ferry model considering only inelastic collisions with LO phonons in the Γ-valley conduction band. The calculation uses established physical constants and no fitting parameters.
