Abstract
The pars distalis of the adenohypophysis of normal (78), thyroideotomized (6), adrenalectomized (6), and castrated (14) White-crowned Sparrows were observed with the electron microscope. Six types of glandular cells were identified and the ultrastructural characteristics of each have been described. To each has been assigned tentatively an endocrine function.
