Abstract

A study was made of structure formation in polyacrylic acid of molecular weight 1,200,000 from dilute and water-alcohol solutions. The type of macromoleculr aggregation was shown during evaporation of solvents into globular and fibrillar formations, according to the type of dissolving medium. Mechanical properties of films also showed a variation according to preparation. It was concluded that supermolecular structure in amorphous polymers should be studied at the stage of forming samples from solution since replicas of the film surface often show a structureless pattern.
