Abstract
Electron-impact excitation of the 4p55s states inkrypton by 15 eV electrons has been investigated in detail bycomparing results obtained in non-perturbativeclose-coupling-type models and in a first-order perturbativedistorted-wave approach.When the results are compared with recent experimental data, theclose-coupling results are generally in better agreement withexperiment than the DWBA predictions, with the notable exception beingthe ratios of differential cross section data recently publishedby Guo et al (1999 J. Phys. B: At. Mol. Opt. Phys. 32 L155-63).
