Abstract

Abstract Electron and x-ray diffractions have been conducted to investigate the incommensurate modulation in La and Li modified strontium barium niobate. As Li and La concentration increases, satellites from first, second and third order incommensurate (INC) modulation are observed, and the same time the broadness of x-ray diffraction lines increases. It is shown that the incommensurate modulation is one-dimensional and has two orientational variants, one parallel to [110]t and the other parallel to [10]t, from these higher-order satellite reflections.
