Abstract

AbstractThe behaviour of a signal travelling through a piece of evanescent waveguide has been investigated using 3D electromagnetic simulation. The simulation reveals the filtering and resonating features of the evanescent waveguide and explains well most observations in the experiments [1, 2] without using the theory of superluminal signal velocity. However, how to measure and calculate the group velocity on a distorted wave packet remains an open question.
