Abstract
We discuss the dependence of U(1)-current algebras on their representation. We examine massless fermions in 1 + 1 space-time dimensions and find that the Schwinger terms are independent of any coupling to external electromagnetic fields, external gravitational fields and heat-bath-like reservoirs. This clarifies the question concerning the temperature dependence of bosonization.
