Abstract
Major efforts have been made to study the electromagnetic field (EMF) generated by a magnetic dipole (MD) inside the sea. The traditional techniques for these studies largely contain complicated analysis of Sommerfeld integrals (SIs) that hardly to solved strictly. To simply offer the physical explanation of the EMF radiation in planar multi-layered media, this study considers the electromagnetic fields (EMFs) generated by an underwater vertical magnetic dipole (VMD) in planar three-layered conducting media (air, seawater, and seabed). A simple technique was used to get an approximate formula for the far-field in the three regions. The outcomes and computation using this technique can be verified through preceding experiments on the sea, that showed high accuracy and fully agreement with experimental data. The present technique which includes simply algebra explain the physical part of the electromagnetic wave (EMW) propagation across the multi-layered media easily. Besides, this technique can apply to the communications in lower-frequencies region, and it will additionally be beneficial for remote sensing of the sea surface, specifically when the transmitter is closest to the sea surface.
