Abstract
The protection of steel parts against corrosion represents a main industrial issue. Thus, protective coatings must deal with several functional properties, and amongst them, composite zinc coatings elaboration have proven its interest. On this purpose, PMMA polymeric particles to be incorporated are synthetized by an original process. Nevertheless, due to its typical growth, zinc is known to be tricky for composite coatings elaboration. One of the possible ways to overcome this problem consists in the modification of the hydrodynamic conditions at the vicinity of the cathode, possibly with ultrasound uses. Then, after calibrating the hydrodynamic near the cathode with the equivalent flow velocity concept and characterizing the electrolyte, the zinc, zinc/PMMA, zinc/silica, and zinc/PMMA-silica coatings are elaborated under different conditions, in order to highlight how their structural properties may be affected by sonication.
