Abstract

Anodic fluorination of five-membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic sulfides like tetrazolyl sulfides was comparatively studied. The anodic fluorination of tetrazolyl sulfides having α-electron-withdrawing groups was successfully carried out to provide α-monofluorinated tetrazolyl derivatives in moderate yields. This is in sharp contrast to the low efficient anodic fluorination of triazolyl sulfides. Thus, it was found that the efficiency of anodic fluorination is greatly affected by the basicity of the heterocyclic groups of the starting heterocyclic sulfides.
