Abstract

Ac/dc bias was applied to gold- or silver-electroded AgPO3 glass samples at ∼150 °C. Dielectric breakdown took place with bias fields of ∼700 V/cm. Depth profiles of silver, gold, oxygen, and phosphorus were measured from the electrode surfaces by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Electrolytic conduction of silver and others and field-induced injection of gold ions into glass from the gold anode were found.
