Abstract
The electrochemical characteristics of unsupported PtIr black catalysts with various compositions were investigated by CV, LSV, and polarization techniques. The catalyst composition of 85 wt. % Pt and 15 wt. % Ir shows higher oxygen evolution reactivity and comparable electrochemical activity to the unsupported Pt black catalyst. Based on the electrochemical characteristics, URFC using the 85Pt:15Ir catalyst shows higher round-trip efficiency than that of unsupported Pt black catalyst at different current densities.
