Abstract
Li ion batteries (LiB) offer high energy density, sufficient cycle life with low cost in energy storage industry. However, LIBs are complex systems which are not yet revealed completely for their degradation mechanism. In general, the loss of Lithium and Li plating during cycling, depletion and decomposition of the electrolyte, structural collapse of active materials and resistance increase are the most representative reasons for the degradation of LIBs. Therefore, accurate and fast diagnosis is critical for safe and long term use of batteries. To diagnose LIBs, we have focused to make degradation cells which have referred as reasons during cycling such as Li loss, Li plating. We fabricate various degradation cells as specified value and figure out the characteristic electrochemical proterties.
