Abstract
Electrochemical measurements using the current pulse method were carried out as a function of crystal orientation and temperature to determine the diffusion of hydrogen in LaNi5 single crystals. The temperature dependence of the diffusion coefficients for the different directions i in the lattice can be described by the Arrhenius expression Di = D0iexp(− EAi/RT). The anisotropic diffusion behaviour is discussed with regard to the structure of LaNi5.
