Abstract

A novel electrochemical sensor of catechol based on cadmium telluride quantum dots (CdTe QDs) /graphene (GR) composite film modified electrode was prepared by using the method of electrodeposition of the GR and dispensing CdTe QDs on the glassy carbon electrode (GCE). Meanwhile, the electrochemical behavior of catechol (CC) was studied by using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse method (DPV). The experimental results showed the oxidation peak current of the CC on the modified electrodes had a significant enhancement compared with bare GCE. The oxidation peak current exhibited a good linear relationship in the concentration range from 30 to 1000 μmol L−1 (R = 0.9904) and the detection limit (LOD) was 18.28 μmol L−1 (S/N = 3),the quantification limit (LOQ) was 60.94 μmol L−1 (S/N = 10). And the repeatability of the method was also studied, the relative standard deviation (RSD) of the oxidation peak current was 3.79%. The prepared electrode showed good reproducibility, stability and was successfully applied to the actual sample testing, the result was satisfactory.
