Abstract
An efficient electrochemical C-H thiocyanation of BODIPYs was developed by using potassium thiocyanide as the source of thiocyanation. The straightforward C-H thiocyanation protocol possesses many advantages: metal-free, oxidant-free conditions, undivided electrolytic cells, room temperature, and the easy-handle nature. In addition, KSCN has a dual role of two birds with one stone: electrolyte and source of [SCN], providing convenient access to the functionalization of BODIPYs. The scaled-up experiment, di-thiocyanide BODIPYs, and follow-up procedures were successfully conducted to verify the potential application of the protocol.
